Bursa - Istanbul Excursion

Without a doubt, Bursa is one of the main tourist destinations in Turkey, only after Istanbul and Ephesus. Bursa is filled with a large variety of beautiful Mosques, bazaars where one can find many traditional Turkish souvenirs, Hotels, Thermal baths, clubs, and of course restaurants where one can taste the traditional Turkish food. Also known as “Green Bursa” due to its beautiful gardens and parks, this region is located in the southern Istanbul, on the lower slopes of Uludang (Mount Olympus) in the Marmara region.

Istanbul and Bursa Bursa was founded by the sultans Orhan and Osman as the first capital of Ottoman Empire (late 1200s-early 1300s), this brought much developed to this region because it were built a large number of monuments that can be seen still today. Due to its large number of tourist attractions, Bursa attracts thousands of visitors from around the world every year. One of the main Bursa’s features is definitely its architectural style, a mix between Persian and Byzantine styles, giving its monuments a wonderful look.

Among the most important monuments that worth visiting are included: Muradiye, an ancient cemetery where many Ottoman princes and sultans were buried, Osman-Orhan, this is the mausoleum of Osman Bey and his son, the conqueror of Bursa, Orhan Bey founders of the Ottoman state, Ulu Cami, also known as the Grand Mosque and interesting place to visit, especially for its pulpit considered as a masterpiece on woodworking.
